Voters should choose Congresswoman Julie Johnson because she delivers results and never stopped fighting for the people she represents.

The contrast in this race is clear: Julie Johnson has built a record fighting for affordable health care and standing up against Trump and ICE for immigrant communities — challenging ICE’s conduct, demanding accountability, voting against funding ICE, and going toe-to-toe with Kristi Noem. Her opponent, Colin Allred, is MAGA and ICE’s favorite Democrat. Colin Allred turned his back on our communities and our civil rights.

Colin Allred voted with Republicans again and again to strip immigrants of due process. Colin Allred chose not to author a single piece of health care legislation during his time in office — despite women’s reproductive rights and access to health care being eroded at all levels of our government during those years.

Colin Allred voted for mass deportation policies that Trump is using to terrorize immigrants and asylees today. H.R. 7511. While Trump signed this bill into law, Julie Johnson voted NO on the same bill.

Civil rights groups said presented a “serious threat to civil liberties. The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights said, “H.R. 7511 would require the mandatory detention – without any possibility of bond – of any undocumented person who is merely arrested for or charged with property-related offenses, including misdemeanor shoplifting. It does not require conviction of such an offense. There is no statute of limitations, and the bill does not specify any process by which a person might contest either their immigration detention or the underlying criminal charges (if charges are even pursued). Mandatory immigration detention based on a mere arrest is unprecedented, and it would invite abuses that almost certainly would disproportionately impact people of color.

Colin Allred sided with Republicans to slash funding to cities unless they help Trump’s ICE raids. H.R. 5717. The League of Women Voters said the bill would cut off billions in federal funding, impacting public health, safety, and services for all residents.  Labor unions slammed the bill for forcing police officers to act as immigration agents, making communities unsafe for workers and residents alike. The AFL-CIO said, “When working people fear immigration consequences for engaging with local authorities, they are less likely to report crimes.”

Colin Allred voted to allow ICE to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens without trial. H.R. 2500

Colin voted with Republicans to allow officers to discriminate against immigrants and violate due process of the law. H.R. 5585. The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights said this bill would “eviscerate due process.” Julie Johnson voted NO on the same bill.

Colin Allred voted to expand ICE detention centers and allow Department of Defense buildings to be used as ICE detention centers. H.R.2500

Colin Allred voted with MAGA Republicans for a bill that deports immigrant women who are victims of domestic violence. H.R. 7909. The Trump administration uses this policy today to take immigrant women from domestic violence shelters and domestic violence court hearings.

The Women’s Refugee Commission has grave concerns about the impact this legislation would have on survivors’ ability to seek safety from abuse. Its provisions are especially concerning in light of the Trump administration’s stated plans to rescind the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Protected Areas (or Sensitive Zones) policy, which will allow ICE to enter locations like hospitals and domestic violence shelters to detain and deport migrants. Taken together, these and other policies force immigrant survivors into impossible choices between their immediate safety and arrest and deportation. They also hand a powerful tool for coercion back to abusers.”

Colin Allred voted with Republicans for H.R. 7343 which eviscerates due process according to civil rights groups and allows for the mandatory and indefinite detention of immigrants and citizens alike. The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights said, “Mandatory detention on the basis of a mere arrest is unprecedented. It would make it far more difficult, if not impossible, for defendants to defend themselves against charges (if charges are even pursued). And it would invite abuses that almost certainly would disproportionately impact people of color.”

Colin supported funding Trump and Abbott’s border wall and called the expansion of the border wall, “necessary,” according to interviews during his first Senate race. The wall project has been a boondoggle for taxpayers, costing Texas billions and enriching GOP donors while Texans struggle to pay for healthcare and rent. “Just 8% of the 805 miles the state identified for construction is complete, which has cost taxpayers more than $3 billion to date.”

Colin Allred is out for himself. He refused to support a bipartisan push to end stock trading by members of Congress in 2022 and doubled his wealth while in office. Allred’s assets skyrocketed by somewhere between 138 and 236 percent during his time in office. As a candidate in 2017, he reported assets between $412K and $1.03M, and in 2025, he reported $1.3M and $2.4M – U.S. House of Representatives Clerk; U.S. Senate Financial Disclosure

Colin Allred is out for himself. He started his campaign for TX33 on the last day of filing, after failing to advance in his second U.S. Senate campaign. He views the district as a consolation prize and is seeking to unseat the first openly gay member of Congress elected to represent the South. Women only make up 28.5% of Congress, but Colin Allred thinks women are placeholders for men who have failed to advance. Allred embodies the worst about today’s politics of ambition.
