ADDISON, TX<\/strong> \u2013 <\/span>Today, State Representative Julie Johnson announced an endorsement from former Congressman and Texas Gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke. His support marks a significant milestone in her campaign for Texas\u2019s 32nd Congressional District.<\/p>

Beto O’Rourke is known for his unwavering dedication to Texas Democrats and progressive values. “I am honored to receive Beto O’Rourke’s endorsement,” said Rep. Julie Johnson<\/b>. “His dedication to the people of Texas and his advocacy for pushing past small politics in favor of big, bold visions aligns perfectly with our campaign\u2019s values. We are eager to harness this support and work together again \u2014<\/span> to get out the vote \u2014<\/span> and to deliver results for North Texans in Washington,\u201d she added.<\/p>

In his statement, O\u2019Rourke said, <\/b><\/span> “It would be pretty hard to find a fiercer champion for the people that she wants to serve and represent in Congress. Whether it’s defending workers’ rights, or staving off attacks on the LGTBQ community, or just trying to make sure that everyone can afford to see a doctor, fill a prescription, and be healthy and well enough to lead their lives. Julie has been on the frontlines of the fight as a state representative and a citizen advocate.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div>

About Julie Johnson<\/strong><\/p>

Since 2019, Julie has served in the Texas House after defeating the author of the Texas \u201cBathroom Bill\u201d by double digits. As a legislator, she has earned a reputation for being a staunch defender of those who have been kicked around and pushed aside. Julie has passed bills to ensure life-saving drugs for Texans aren\u2019t held up by prior-authorization requirements. She protected victims of sexual assault by demanding transparency about repeat offenders from state boards. She ensured that survivors of Dallas first responders who die in the line of duty have full access to benefits. Julie also helped maintain funding for Parkland Health System. As the Vice Chair of the Texas Women\u2019s Health Caucus, Julie has been on the front lines in the fight for reproductive rights .<\/p>

As a Texas educated attorney, Julie fought into the courtroom at a time when women weren\u2019t being hired to litigate cases. She has defended workers\u2019 rights, stood up for the mentally disabled, and helped students who were taken advantage of by for-profit colleges.<\/p>

Julie lives in Farmers Branch with her wife, Susan Moster, a practicing Gastroenterologist in Fort Worth. They have two sons, Nicholas and Ben.<\/p>
