ADDISON, TX<\/strong> \u2013 Today, Texas State Rep. Julie Johnson announced her candidacy to represent Texas\u2019 32nd District in Congress. Armed with a proven track record of public service and a comprehensive understanding of the job, Johnson stands poised to bring a wealth of experience to the national stage. As an attorney, Julie stood up for workers unfairly fired and fought students who had been taken advantage of by for-profit colleges. In the State House, Julie protected victims of sexual assault by demanding transparency about repeat offenders from state boards and worked to increase healthcare access. Julie has the experience and know-how needed to carry on Collin Allred’s legacy of delivering results for Texas families.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing months of encouragement from elected leaders, activists, and organizations across the country, I am excited and honored to announce my run for Texas Congressional District 32,\u201d Julie Johnson stated. \u201cI believe that together we can build a stronger, more inclusive Texas that works for everyone. About Julie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2019, Julie has served in the Texas House after defeating the author of the Texas \u201cBathroom Bill\u201d by double digits. As a legislator, she has earned a reputation for being a staunch defender of those who have been kicked around and pushed aside. Julie has passed bills to ensure life-saving drugs for Texans aren\u2019t held up by prior-authorization requirements. She protected victims of sexual assault by demanding transparency about repeat offenders from state boards. She ensured that survivors of Dallas first responders who die in the line of duty have full access to benefits. Julie also helped maintain funding for Parkland Health System. As the Vice Chair of the Texas Women\u2019s Health Caucus, Julie has been on the front lines in the fight for reproductive rights .<\/p>\n

As a Texas educated attorney, Julie fought into the courtroom at a time when women weren\u2019t being hired to litigate cases. She has defended workers\u2019 rights, stood up for the mentally disabled, and helped students who were taken advantage of by for-profit colleges.<\/p>\n

Julie lives in Farmers Branch with her wife, Susan Moster, a practicing Gastroenterologist in Fort Worth. They have two sons, Nicholas and Ben.<\/p>\n
