Meet Julie Johnson
Congresswoman Julie Johnson has built a record of governing with principle and purpose. She came to Congress after three terms in the Texas state house where she was known for passing bills related to healthcare and insurance reform. In Congress, she continues the fight to protect affordable health care, has introduced legislation to help Texans buy homes, defended reproductive freedom, and stood up for immigrant communities by challenging ICE misconduct and demanding real accountability. She as elected to Congress in 2024, and is the first openly LGBTQ person elected to federal office from Texas and the South and the first women to represent her district in Congress.
In 2025, under Donald Trump’s direction, Texas Republicans redrew the congressional map to pack Democrats into fewer districts and deliberately strip North Texas communities of real representation. When that happened, Julie Johnson fought back, working with allies from the Texas Legislature to draw national attention to the desperate rigging of Texas maps. She did not abandon her constituents or go searching for the next political opportunity. She stayed rooted in the communities she has represented since her first election to the Texas House and is running for re-election in Texas’ new 33rd Congressional District to continue that work.
Julie Johnson does not chase viral moments. She shows up, does the work, and treats public service as exactly that: service to her neighbors, her community, and the people who sent her to Congress.

In Congress, Julie will continue putting Democratic values into action by standing up to Donald Trump and the extremist agenda threatening our rights, our democracy, and our communities. She will fight to:
- Protect democracy from Trump and his allies by defending free and fair elections, rejecting political retaliation, and stopping efforts to concentrate power and undermine the rule of law.
- Stand up for earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare, and block Republican schemes to cut or privatize the benefits Texans have paid into their entire lives.
- Fight ICE and Trump’s deportation machine by demanding accountability, opposing mass detention and deportation policies, and protecting due process for immigrant families who are part of our communities.
- Make housing affordable by expanding pathways to homeownership, increasing housing supply, and lowering costs for working families priced out of North Texas.
- Raise the minimum wage so no one working in Texas full-time is stuck in poverty.
- Protect reproductive freedom nationwide by stopping Republicans from passing a national abortion ban and working to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade.
- Lower health care costs by reducing prescription drug prices and defending the Affordable Care Act from MAGA attacks that would strip coverage from millions.
Julie doesn’t run from hard fights. She takes them on—because what’s at stake for Texans is too important to do otherwise.
Voting
Early voting starts February 17th and runs through February 27th. All voters in TX-33 can vote early at any early voting center in the county. Find your early voting center here.
